Pozzale The literary award, cultural event founded in 1948 by the Committee of the Chamber of PCI, has arrived this year at the 58 th edition.
In order to bring people of the village of Pozzale, and not only in literary award, born from the work and culture, the people's house is organizing two evenings of presentation of books competition, 20 and 26 June the garden behind the club. The 24 books in the 2010 race will be presented by as many readers will tell their impressions of the book read, to be followed by readings of songs, all accompanied by the notes of the soloist Alessio Vitelli.
To remember the past and talk about the award of the possible future we met Vera Viti, the only woman among the founders of the prize.
What was meant to establish a literary prize in the Second World War, in a moment, then so difficult to Empoli?
Certainly the period was not the best. While we were organizing the festival in the section of "The Unit" of Pozzale, Ernesto Accountants was the idea of \u200b\u200bfounding a literary prize. Everyone liked this idea from the start, we wanted to do new things to inspire people. Gradually the project has grown to become national in scope. I recall with nostalgia the preparations to organize the entire country faced the prize. For weeks, the House of the People section, we made flags hung across the country.
The award, certainly has changed a lot since its foundation. Do you think I still will enclose the sense that it could have so many years ago?
Times have changed, for example young people today have little desire to engage, however, I believe, that the prize will again. The reason for which he was born, or the union between workers and culture, no longer reflects the unique significance of the prize. Today we need to rediscover the commitment of many years ago and to entice people to stay together. To achieve the award we went house to house, across the country to raise the necessary funds. The farmers gave us wheat, oil, eggs, we sell it for funding. After a while 'time, when the awards for the winners had become too expensive we asked the help of the town, I must say that he did a good job. The awards for many years are no longer made in the village, but at Empoli, and although the events were rarely made to the attached Pozzale.
Do you think there is a need to reconnect people to the aims of the literary prize?
I think so. We must inform people that the premium still exists, through presentations and side events. The Pozzale itself is a bit 'detached and this is not good. I believe that the initiative this year is very positive for this and, who knows, maybe next year we will also return to the awards ceremony Pozzale.
